Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI cut the top off a 3’ponytail palm after freezing damage. After about 2 months I now have three sets of new growth 1″ from the top. You can therefore prune. Just requires patience.

That’s wonderful you saved your plant!
A small plant has a better chance of success in this area then larger mature plants.
