Pond Side Planting

I live on a retaining pond in South Carolina. They recently dropped the ponds to avoid future flooding. Now we have about 2 feet of mud between our grass and the water level. I am looking for plants to grow in that space, if possible. The challenge is that the water can rise when it gets really rainy, which may cover the plants at times. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You will need a group of plants commonly called “bog plants.” They are as happy growing in dry soil as they are in wet soil. Here is a list of some you can consider:
