Pokomoke Crepe Myrtle

Question

My pokomokes are planted – a number surrounding a cypress tree. They are beautiful and foliage lush, but last year did not show but a few almost obscure blooms. I am seeing the same ‘habit’ this year. What am I doing wrong? We are technically in Zone 7 but are within 3 or 4 miles of the Delaware Bay and Atlantic ocean so have a realistic Zone 8.
