Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have a lilac in the back yard, and this year after blossoming two branches came up with “pods” as it were. I had a lilac in Westport, WA for 20 yrs and never saw this. This lilac is in Tumwater, WA and has been here 10 years. I’m attaching a couple pictures. Thank you.

The lilac has gone to seed. You can cut those off to prevent reseeding. Here is information on pruning a lilac and propagating bushes from seed if you'd like to do that. But if it is a cultivar, it probably won't grow true from seed.
