splitting a yucca

I have a yucca in this yard I just bought. It’s a mess of plants all with old wood still in them. Can I separate and save them?

Spring or fall is the best time for transplanting. That being said, start by digging a hole around the plant. Keep it a short distance from the plant as some species have long root systems. When you have removed a lot of soil around and beneath the rhizomes, you should be able to lift up the clump. Once lifted you can divide the yucca into smaller parts for replanting elsewhere or simply transplant the entire clump.
