Q.Please help identify my summer bulbs (novice)

Zone sw24jh | warrensherwin added on July 5, 2019 | Answered

Hello!

I bought several packs of bulbs of Amazon and planted them at Easter, hoping to have some nice meadow flowers for Summer. Not many of them have taken off. (see pic of mixed pack)

Except for one of them that has taken over; however, it’s not flowering and looks more like a weed. I can’t identify it from the pack of mixed bulbs.

It’s basic green with yellow seed pods.

Any advice on what to do with it? Rip it out? Cut it back?

This is not any of the bulbs or plants that you pictured in your purchase.

It is a weed; may be in the Ragweed family.
I would pull them by hand and dispose of; do not compost.
You may have to carefully do this to avoid damage to any of the bulb flowers that may be hiding in your garden bed.

Once you have the weeds cleared you can mulch the bed to help keep down the weeds.
