Q.Please Can You Identify This Plant/weed

Zone Stafford | hhyland added on September 17, 2020 | Answered

I recently cleared a border in my garden of long established weeds. I then put some top soil down and scattered wild flower seeds. The attached photo shows what’s growing through the top soil. Are these the weeds returning? If so, if I pull them up before they get too big, are they likely to keep coming back before my flowers can grow? Many thanks Helen (novice gardener)

It is going to be hard to say with seedlings. Since wildflowers are, mostly, weeds they will look like them. This is especially true when they are young.

From here, it will be necessary to let them grow out. Wildflowers will grow just as fast as the weeds, so they will likely take over the area before anything else will.
