Plants Versus Weeds

I’m very new to gardening. My husband planted a huge garden and told me to weed it. I don’t know what any of the vegetable plants are suppose to look like, so I don’t know if I’m pulling weeds or crops. I’ve been all over the Internet and cannot find images of vegetable plants at various stages of growth. We have some seedlings that are just coming up, but the weeds are coming up also, so I don’t know which to pull. I tried to harvest some peas only to find out they were radishes that had gone to seed. Isn’t there someplace this poor city girl can find out what these plants are suppose to look like? Please help me.

About the best suggestion I have is that you husband probably planted vegetables in a row. When you see multiples of a plant in a row, it is a good indicator that they are the vegetables. If you see the same plant between rows, there is a good chance it is a weed. I always labeled the beginning of a row of whatever vegetable it was that I planted, too. This is a learning experience and at the end of this first year, you will know much more than you do now by watching vegetables mature. Some of this will be accidental if you happen to pull the plant instead of the weed. It would also help if you find a helpful veggie gardener who can give you some guidance.
