Planting peach tree seed

I have finally decided to plant a peach tree seed that we got up in Grand Junction, Colorado. It has been wrapped in tin foil in a medicine bottle in the refrigerator since 1998. I read your article on the planting. I live in the high desert of Arizona and would like to start it in a pot in the house. Granted the AC is on but it is set about 80. So could you please advise me as to how I need to place the seed in the pot. I know this sounds silly but which way is the best way for it to germinate? I would like to use a small clay pot. Thanks for all your help.

I cannot find any research regarding the viability of a peach seed that has been stored for as long as yours.
Here are links that have more information on how to germinate the pit.
You will either have to plant outdoors or germinate it in the refrigerator.
