Q.Planting of Crepe Myrtle

Anonymous added on August 15, 2011 | Answered

Does a crepe myrtle have to be in direct sun or just partial sun? We have the perfect spot but it only gets partial sun. Will the crepe myrtle grow? Should I be planting this fall or wait until the spring. We live in MO.

Plant crepe myrtle trees in fall in areas with full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Normal crepe myrtle varieties may not survive in MO, but there are some cold hardy varieties that have been introduced in the past few years that will survive there.
