planting new dahlias

I’ve been waiting for the last frost date before planting my new dahlias. While in storage, the eyes have grown significantly, some 12 inches long. How should I plant these dahlias? Should I cut back part of the growth? The growth still looks like the eye, no change to green.

It sounds like you should divide your Dahlia tubers.
