Planting hibiscus

I live in zip code 94706. I planted a beautiful hibiscus last year but it died with an unusual frost we had. Is there a hardy hibiscus that I can plant in half sun half shade that will survive in the East San Francisco Bay area. I do not live in Contra Costa County where the heat and cold is more severe than here.

Most varieties will tolerate your are, as you are in zone 10, with the exception of a few true, tropical varieties. I am including an article that will suggest a few that are hardy all the way down to zone 6. This will ensure that the frost couldn’t kill it.
