Planting hibiscus

Zone 94706 | Anonymous added on October 5, 2018 | Answered

I live in zip code 94706. I planted a beautiful hibiscus last year but it died with an unusual frost we had. Is there a hardy hibiscus that I can plant in half sun half shade that will survive in the East San Francisco Bay area. I do not live in Contra Costa County where the heat and cold is more severe than here. Ann Duncan [email protected]

Most varieties will tolerate your are, as you are in zone 10, with the exception of a few true, tropical varieties. I am including an article that will suggest a few that are hardy all the way down to zone 6. This will ensure that the frost couldn't kill it.
