Q.Planting Garlic
Most of the garlic heads I just harvested in late June, were considerably smaller than heads from previous years and a third were split with exposed cloves. I know leaving them in the ground too long is what caused them to split, but I don’t know what caused them to be so small. I planted this crop 3.25″ deep last Nov. 2021 using large cloves from the crop I harvested that June. Could I have planted them too deep? ….and any suggestions on what I can do with the exposed cloves? I can send pictures if that would help. Appreciate any help! Ron

If you are certain that they have been left the appropriate amount of time, then you may consider soil fertility or watering practices to blame!
