Planting Crepe Myrtles and Vitex in Containers

I live in Zone 7 and want to plant a dwarf crepe myrtle and a blue vitex in containers. I live in a rent house and don’t want to plant anything in the ground.

Any plant can be grown in a container as long as you can provide it with the water and light that it needs.

Keep in mind that when growing in a container, you should treat the plant as though it were living 1 zone lower. This means in your zone 7, you want to find varieties that will survive in zone 6. The reason is that because they lack the ground to insulate and protect them, container plants are exposed to conditions that are similar to a zone lower than your own.

Also remember that plants in containers will need significantly more water than those in the ground. You may need to water as much as 2 times a day during the hottest parts of summer.
