Q.Planting Around A Tree

Anonymous added on August 23, 2011 | Answered

I would like to plant geraniums around our palm trees. I would like to use an edging about 3 inches high and fill it with good soil for the plants to grow. My husband said he read somewhere that this is not good for palm trees. I would like to know if he is correct.

Your husband is correct. Placing dirt over the roots can smother them and kill the tree. Consider planting the geraniums in pots that you can place around the base of the tree.
