Planting a Sago Bulb

Question

I live by Corpus Christi, Tx, not sure if that is zone 9 but I think it is. Anyway, when I take a bulb off of my existing sago palm, do I simply put it in a pot or do I have to let it set in a cup of water for awhile till roots emerge?
