Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comIn the spring, I received a variety of onion transplants from a friend. I never grew onions before and didn’t have ground garden space, so I put them in a container (about 5 gal). It’s now clear that I planted WAY too many together and much too close. Can I pull up some of them now to allow the others to grow larger? Overall, they look very healthy with tall green stalks, but I’m concerned they won’t mature.

Yes, you can thin the plants out as needed, choosing the smallest and leaving the others. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/onion/growing-onions-in-container-gardens.htm [1]
