Q.PLANTED BLUEBERRY BUSHES TOO CLOSE

Zone Creedmoor North Carolina | susanandbryant2023 added on June 12, 2023 | Answered

Hello, About 15 years ago, we planted 30 or so Stars blueberry bushes, WAY too close together. Although they have been pruned, over the years, it is almost impossible to pick berries, what few there are now. What is the best fix for this problem? Take out every other bush? Trim each bush down to 3 or 4 “trunks”? Or take out every other row? Thanks for your help.

I believe that taking out every other bush, along with restorative pruning, will be your best option.
