Q.plant suggestions?

Zone Maryland | bpurple added on July 7, 2015 | Answered

We poured a concrete patio in the front of our house. There’s a strip of dirt between the patio and walkway, about one foot wide and 15 feet long. what type of plant would you suggest? A landscaper suggested sky pencil holly. Is that a good choice? The photos of this plant seem too narrow, and I don’t need it to be so high, just a foot or two.

How wonderful to have a blank slate to work with!

Do you want shrubs, flowers, mass plantings, cottage garden, low maintenance?

Perhaps a visit to the local garden centers or nurseries will help you.
Holly is a great shrub, but with harsh winters they can have issues with winter burns. You may want to research them, they are rated down to zone 6.
