Plant Name And Problem

Hello, I tried to identify the enclosed plant but was unsuccessful. Can you please tell me what it is? I planted it in a pot in an indoor sun room and have been watering it regularly and misting it daily for a couple of years. It gets light from windows 6 ft. away. Today, I discovered withered dry leaves that left a sticky residue on my hand. Am I overwatering this beautiful plant? If so, can you please let me know how to care for it. I live in New Mexico. It is very dry and we get snow during the winter. Also I was trying to grow a clematis indoors with morning glories. It did not work at all. The morning glory leaves withered and the clematis got chocked off. Today I threw out the morning glories and placed the pot outdoors with a few red geraniums. Will this work when I take the pot indoors and place it on a counter next to the window when the temperature drops? As you can see, I’m pretty inexperienced with growing plants in this dry climate. Everything grew easily when I lived in California. Thank you for your help,

The sticky residue could mean the false aralia plant has an insect problem, either scale or aphids. Yes, you can bring the geranium inside for the winter.
