Q.Plant identification

Zone 36467 | Deanna Church added on March 12, 2017 | Answered

Can you identify this plant? It was horribly overgrown when I bought the house. I finally decided to just dig it up and see if I could successfully divide it. The trunk-like roots (?) have me stumped.

These appear to be Iris rhizomes.

The white on the rhizomes is where they have been damaged in the dig.
I would sort the plants and look for healthy rhizomes attached to one fan.
