Pink Straw Like Grass

We live on a golf course and about 4 years ago had a pink straw-like grass spread in our lawn. At that time our lawn fertilizer guy treated it, but he is no longer in business and we fertilize our own lawn. And I can’t remember what he said it was, nor do I remember what he treated it with. I do remember he said it was very common with lawns that were adjacent to golf courses. Well it is back this year. Can you tell us how to treat it?

Microdochium patch is a lawn fungus that is typically found on or near golf courses and can be managed by avoiding excessive nitrogen applications in mid-fall. It is similar in appearance to pink snow mold and can also be treated with appropriate fungicides.
