Q.pine cone

Zone 95336 | julia added on January 27, 2017 | Answered

I would like to know what the name of the tree is that yields pine cones in this shape. The one I have is about 5 inches long unopened but I found a picture online of the similar one that I have.

This is actually a harder task then it sounds!
What zone do you live in?
Images of the tree are helpful.
Is it a Pine, Fir or Spruce?

I am listing several links that will help you search.

I would also suggest that you can take the cones and all information to your County Extension Office.
They are a valuable source of information for your region.
Here is a link to help you locate your nearest office.
