Pickerelweed or Rush

I have receive a pickerelweed or rush. It’s bluish purple in color on the end of the spikes. I have it in a large container on my balcony and it receives part shade part sun. It’s doing well and starting to put out a new pod of blooms and has a few new baby leaves. I have also put a small at of fertilizer in it after it had settled. I have looked all over for care on it and if there is any pruning to keep them making more flowers or to leave them alone til it’s cut back for winter. I keep seeing you can save seeds to germinate them. Well, of course, I am a newbie and need to see what they look like. I have heard they are nut-like or black after flowering ends. I love the way this native plant looks and would like to know all I can for it.

Thank You in Advance! 🙂
