Peonies

I planted a Peony bulb in May of 2017 and, nothing happened for months. I dug it out and planted it in the ground in July and, still, nothing. Is there a chance it will sprout in Spring of 2018 ?

I admit to being confused. Peonies do not produce bulbs. A mature plant has some thick, orangish roots. If what you have is a piece of root and it didn’t sprout this year, it is unlikely to sprout next year. Sorry
