Pepper plant disease and treatment

The 3 photos illustrate the problem. The first photo illustrates a healthy pepper plant. The second one shows the tip of the plant becoming black and the third shows the plant dying. There has been 2-3 rainy days prior to the problem cropping up. What is this disease and what is the treatment? Thanks.

There are a few reasons for this issue, some more serious then others.
With the heavy rain, excess water can cause root rot.
