Q.Peonies

Zone 5 | shadowlurker added on June 18, 2016 | Answered

Our Peonies bloomed awesome this year. This is its third year. This year the flowers were tight to the bush compared to longer stems in the past. After the red blooms past, two shoots came up and had white to slightly pink flowers with a very weak scent. The flowers weren’t as showy and like I said very weak scent. Where did these white flowers come from? Our bush has red flowers.

I would say that you likely have a hybrid Peony plant that can, under stress revert to their parental lineage. The stress could be environmental related and out of your control.
