peneston,beardstongue

didn’t bloom last year,cut back nice new leaves but still no flower.heard they dont live long,is the plant done?planted new cutting,nice leaves but still no flowers,does this take more than one season?

Their are hundreds of varieties of Penstemon, and the growing zone and hardiness depends on the variety.
It may be too cold for the particular variety that you have planted.

Too cold or too warm and Penstemon will act as an annual.
