Pencil holly

We just had landscaping completed about 3months ago with pencil holly in the mix. They have survived hot summer but now turning brown. Is this normal? I thought they stayed green all year. Thank you for your help.

Typically the most common reason for this happening is a lack of iron. That, or the pH of the soil is too high. You can correct both issues by applying iron sulfate to the area.
