Q.Peeling Bark On Lilac Tree

Zone SL6 6BH | lucillebarry1 added on June 12, 2020 | Answered

Hello, we have a lilac tree and the bark on the trunk is peeling off plus some what I think is lichen is growing on one of the trunks. Can you suggest what is the best way of treating/looking after it as it’s a beautiful tree an we don’t want to lose it. I have attached 3 pictures. Thank you

This is normal for an older specimen, and the lichens won't harm your tree. It can signify that the humidity is high, or that the soil remains quite moist, but in itself is not an issue.
