Q.Pecan trees

Zone Smithville, texas | Anonymous added on May 25, 2017 | Answered

Can you raise a pecan tree from a pecan nut that had the shoot already coming out of the nut when I put it in a pot? And, the stem is about 10 inches high now but the leaves are very big wide and kind of tear drop shaped, not long and narrow like a mature pecan leaf? Am I actually growing a pecan tree or a weed in my pot?

There would certainly be no harm in trying!

Pot up the new seedling and see if it continues to grown.
