Pear Trees

My tree is 6 to 8 yrs old. This is the first time it has produced pears. It was a self-pollinating tree. My pears are very small, not any bigger than a red grape, and are a reddish color. Should they be that color now? There are only 10 or 12 pears on the whole tree. How do I increase the production of this tree?

Do you know the variety of Pear Tree that you are growing?
The variety will help you know what the fruit size should be and how long from blossom to fruit harvest.
