Q.pear tree problem

Zone Birmingham | maureen blair added on June 1, 2017 | Answered

My pear tree is about 10 years old and 8ft tall.It is growing well but for the last four or years it has sustained various leaf problems. First it had orange spots appearing on the leaves which spread throughout. the spots got larger and as i couldnt pull off all the leaves the orange spots grew until they appeared to have little tenticles hanging from it underneath the leaf. what might this be? Then last year and this year although the orange spots did not reappear I’m now seeing little brown spots appearing on all the leaves. The leaves start to wilt a bit but only a few wither. Is my pear tree infested with some kind of mite that is sucking the sap from the leaves. I have a smaller pear tree much younger and the same problem blighted it first, so I cut back all the affected limbs which had infected leaves on right back to the main trunk last year. This year the small pear tree is growing back really well so far with no sign of the leaf infestation. Must I cut back the larger pear tree as well in order to rid it of this too? Or is there a sray that would help? I would appreciate your help
