Pear tree dying

A few weeks ago I had green shoots starting on ends of limbs. They have now all turned brown and the limbs are dead. Many of the limbs have turned black. This is next to an apricot tree that has done the same thing. Any idea what’s going on?

Has there been a cold snap? This can cause the problem. Also, if it has been overly wet, then I would suspect a fungal infection. I would add dolomitic lime and wettable sulfur to help with this.
