Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI live in Kelso, WA. Last summer I went to a farmers market in Vancouver, WA and got a case of peaches. The woman told me that the peaches were from the Chelan (WA) area. They were fabulous! I asked her if I planted the seeds, would they grow? She said yes, and that she has a couple of trees in her yard from the same group that actually produce fruit. (In most years.) So I planted 10 seed in the fall outside and now have 5 plants. Now what? The little starts are about 5-6″ tall. I know that I will need to transplant them (in the fall?) to bigger pots but do I do this in steps 4″ to 6″ etc or put them in a bigger pot (10″?) next? Please advise. I have apple trees, a couple of pear trees, and a couple of plum trees spread around the yard but they are all semi- dwarf – I take it these will be full sized more than likely? I didn’t ask the woman how big her trees were. Can I prune the tree to keep it smaller? Thanks, Ellen Wallace

The small seedlings should be able to be planted into the ground by this fall. They can likely stay in a 1 gallon nursery pot until you are ready to plant out.
Pruning of Peach Trees is to help with tree health and fruit production. You will not be able to prune to keep the size small without risk of disease or loosing fruit each year.
Remember that if the trees do bear fruit, they may not be the same as the original fruit you started with.
