Peach trees

Every year we get a lot of peaches on our trees but the peaches get this gooy stuff coming out of it at the point where the peach is attached to the branch. What is it and how do I avoid it or get rid of it. Right now our peaches are very small and green. We are in south central Tennessee. Can you help me with this ASAP so I can save this years peaches???
