Peach Tree Care

NOT a Gardener. Before at Xmas 2018 I threw 2 peach pips in plant pot in John Innes No1 compost just to see if it was possible. I left them on a shelf in my garage in freezing cold conditions and forgot all about them. To my surprise at end of January or early February I noticed they had both started to grow. I have started to add a little water now and then and put them in separate pots, but have not got a clue how to carry them on. Are they in the right kind of compost? It seems a bit solid to me. Should I be feeding them? If so what with and how often. Ph balances and fancy names don’t mean a lot to me so it would be helpful to be given product names. At almost 70 yrs old i don’t really care if they never fruit but it would be nice to think I had grown a real tree from a pip. Thanks for your help and see photos of the plants as they are now. 20/03/2019. cheers Mike.

Less care will be better with these! Put them in a mix of any indoor potting soil and your compost, since that is perfectly good compost. You just want them to be able to breathe in their soil, so you will want to add the potting soil to lighten things up a bit.

You will want to go ahead and put them into 2 gallon containers or so. They will grow very fast to fill them out. Let them get as much sun as possible and and water them as the soil dries down to about 2 or 3 inches.

Give them a fresh layer of compost 2 times per year instead of applying liquid fertilizer to make it easier, and watch ’em grow!
