Peace Lily Root Rotting

I overwatered my Peace Lily in a major way. The pot doesn’t have drainage holes (lesson learned) and I went into immediate rehab mode. I am a beginner planter, so I have done a lot of research on diagnosing the problem and treating the problem.

I knew it was root rot when the stems were soggy and black with a pungent smell. That was the easy part. The difficult part was the actual solution. I removed the plant from the pot, washed off the soil, and examined the damage. There were several healthy rooots (I was so grateful). I trimmmed the damaged roots, soaked the remaining, healthy roots in a water-hydrogen peroxide solution for a little over a hour , and repotted the plant in a nursery pot.

Fast forward a few hours… my poor peace lily looks so sad. What else can I do? What did I do wrong?

Sincerely,

One who is developing a Green Thumb 🙂

You have done as much as you can and now will need to wait out to see if the plant can recover.
This article will refresh you on the care requirements.
