Peace Lily planting

Can I take just the stem of the plant of a peace lily and start a root from the stalk part. No crown or root just from the stem? Say someone gave me a stem with the leave up top of the stem or stalk…can it take root like other plants and them begin to grow?

It can, but it may take awhile, and have to be constantly disinfected with peroxide. You can make a rooting hormone out of a few drops of honey, and a crushed aspirin tab in warm water. This will help it to root faster, while keeping it clean. Make sure to keep the soil slightly moist at all times. It should not be wet, or dry, but in between. In a dimly lit window would be the best place to put this for rooting. After it has, you can slowly increase the light exposure.
