peace lily drooping leaves

The peace lily is in a large (at least 18 inches) pot. There are new leaves starting from the center of the plant, but the outer leaves are drooping. Should they be cut off? What is the cause of this? I don’t have a photo, the plant belongs to a friend without email.

Drooping leaves generally indicates that the plant is thirsty and needs water. Peace Lily are very good at telling you when they need water.

Your plant also could need repotting.
