Q.Patterns Forming On Morning Glory

Poorva J added on September 9, 2024 | Answered

Hello, I had a plain violet coloured morning glory and later the plant self-seeded. Now, some of the flowers that are blooming (on the new self seeded plant) have white designs/patterns on them. I tried to google why this is happenning but couldn’t find anything. I am attatching photos of the flowers. Thank you in advance!

Morning glories do some interesting things from seed. There is quite a bit of genetic variation, so you can see some traits that may have been genetically locked up waiting to be expressed. I've seen some weird ones. I've seen speckles, all the way to A single portion of the fused petals being white all of the way down. I've seen color changes, and plants with many colors on the same plant. Who knows!? Maybe the next generation expresses other different traits!
