Q.Passionflower

In Swannanoa, NC, zone 6-7, when should I expect my passionflower vine to poke his little head out of the ground? He was new last year, bloomed beautifully, and I mulched him heavily for the winter, but I’ve seen no evidence of growth as of yet (April 26). I’m concerned that I’ve lost him.

Did the entire plant die back to the ground?
If the roots survived the winter, it should began growing again. Give it some more time and the ground to warm nice and temperatures even out.
