My passion fruits have got holes in them. What is causing this and what can I do about it?

Fruit flies can feed on passion fruits on the vine, but the holes they leave are tiny (pinprick size). Depending on your region, there may be other pests or larger animals like mammals or birds that might be making these holes. You might want to check with a local expert like an extension agent for what is common in your area.
