Papaya Trees

Aloha,
I have several Papaya (Not Pawpaws) trees that have developed lower limbs off the mail trunk. Should I lop them off or just leave them be? I live on Kauai.
Mahalo,
Rick

This does not seem to be any kind of stress growth. Just lower growth that was allowed to flourish. It will not hurt the tree to leave them, or take them off. Either way you choose will be up to you. This appears to be a very healthy specimen. This article will give you more information on the care of these trees: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/papaya/growing-papaya-fruit.htm [1]
