Painted Plant

I have a painted plant bush, which is bout 5 years old. It was big and beautiful. All of a sudden it has black leaves all over. I took all the leaves off and cut it back. It seems the black leaves are all over the top part. I did spray for bugs and fertilized before this started to happen. Also, I started to water, as it’s been so hot. I live in the Orange, Tx. area.

It is probably a fungus, though there are so many, it is hard to say which one. Cut the affected branches off and treat the bush with a fungicide, such as neem oil, to kill off any residual fungus.
