Q.Overgrown tomatoes

Zone WV | Raven57 added on July 15, 2015 | Answered

Due to excessive rainfall, my tomatoes have overgrown my stakes and are still producing. How do I try to keep plants from breaking?

I have had luck adding a sturdy stake along side the cages and tying the cages to the stakes.

Sometimes a heavy branch will bend and continue to grow just fine. If the plants are so heavy with unripened tomatoes you can pick the larger ones and allow to ripen off the vine.
