Boston ferns thrive in tropical and sub-tropical climates, and can be planted year round in hardiness zones 8B-11. They cannot tolerate dropping below the 40 to 50 F. temperature range. That being said, you can either mulch the plant well and hope for the best or overwinter the fern indoors.
