Outdoor Asparagus Fern

Question

I am trying to find the name even the plant that is the outdoor asparagus fern. When I was a child my Father grew one of these ferns and all I can remember is that each spring/summer the asparagus tips started to push their way through the ground. They were left to grow tall and as the fern grew, it became a beautiful delicate fern, the one they use in wedding button holes. The only one I have seen is on ebay, but it is an indoor plant. Can anyone please help me with the name of this particular aspargus fern I am looking for. I do not want it as a vegetable only as a fern. The problem is to get the right one. Please can anyone help me. Thank You

Well, actual asparagus will turn into a plant that looks very similar to asparagus fern houseplant and will grow in.

There are also many species of asparagus fern (which are all actually ornamental asparagus and not ferns) and some can be grown outdoors in some parts of the country.. I live in zone 9 and have a lot of this fern. It is commonly called asparagus fern, but is actually springerli fern. It is grown in both sun and shade and grown well in both places.
