Orchid Flowers

I have 3 orchids whose roots and leaves are healthy however all flowers fell off. In one of the plants, roots appear to be growing at the top of the orchid where they flowers once bloomed. Is this natural for orchids? Is there a dormant period for orchids to bloom?

Thanks very much!

Orchid flowering is a very complex process. They can flower again from the same stalk after the flowers drop off. To get them to flower you will have to make sure they get a few months where the light they receive exceeds 12 hours per day. After this you will want to drop the temperatures slightly, and decrease the amount of light they receive. You will make sure that they get 12 hours or more of pitch black darkness per day. This will initiate their flowering process.
